Problem
Standard AI assistants sound robotic and generic. HeatChat needed a voice people would actually want to talk to, one that felt confident and human, not scripted, while still giving useful recommendations.
Iteration
Didn’t guess at the persona, asked the community directly. Ran polls asking followers how they pictured the AI, masculine or feminine, playful or sophisticated, dressy or street smart. Used those answers to build a persona that blended class with street awareness, then wrote prompt templates and training examples to keep that voice consistent across every response, including how it handled ambiguity or recovered from a misunderstanding.
Solution
A fully designed AI companion, voice, persona, chat interface, and launch strategy, integrated directly into Heat’s Instagram, including features like Missed Connections and Horoscope built on top of the core chat experience.
Outcome
Heat Bot helped build a waitlist of 650 people for the Heat app before launch, proof the persona wasn’t just fun to talk to, it actually converted interest into people ready to download. Missed Connections helped users reconnect in ways that mattered, and Heat Bot became a core part of how people interact with Heat, not a gimmick bolted on top.
